Swiss QR bill generator
Enter your account, the amount and a reference and download an A4 PDF with the Swiss QR payment part. It's free and you don't need an account.
What a Swiss QR bill contains
The QR bill is the Swiss standard for paying an invoice, and it complements the invoice rather than replacing it.
- Payment part and receipt
- The payment part holds the Swiss QR code, with the receipt on its left. All payment details appear in the code and as readable text next to it.
- A Swiss or Liechtenstein account
- An IBAN or QR-IBAN starting with CH or LI. The name you enter must match the account holder.
- Structured addresses
- Name, street and number, postal code, town and country in separate fields. Since November 2025, new QR bills may only use structured addresses.
- Currency and amount
- The QR bill works in CHF or EUR. The amount is printed with two decimals.
- The matching reference
- A QR-IBAN always needs a QR reference of 27 digits. A normal IBAN works with an RF creditor reference or without any reference.
- A message for the payer
- An optional message, such as the invoice number, helps the payer and you match the payment.
- The payer, if known
- The payer is optional in the QR code. If you add one, that address has to be structured too. The invoice itself should still name its recipient.
- PDF or paper
- A PDF can be paid directly in e-banking and mobile banking. Paying on paper or at a post office counter needs a full-size printout that meets the SIX paper and perforation requirements.
How to create a QR bill
-
1
Enter your account and address
Add your IBAN or QR-IBAN and your name exactly as it appears on the account. Then fill in street, postal code, town and country.
-
2
Set amount, currency and reference
Choose CHF or EUR and enter the amount. With a QR-IBAN, enter up to 26 digits and the generator adds the check digit. With a normal IBAN, enter an invoice number to create an RF reference, or leave the field empty and use the message.
-
3
Add the payer if you know them
Enter the payer's name and address, or leave the section empty so the payer fills it in. Pick the language of the slip: German, English, French or Italian.
-

Download and check the PDF
Download the A4 page and compare the readable details with what you entered. Before you send it, scan the code once with your own banking app.
Questions and answers
Is the QR bill generator free?
Yes. You can create as many QR bills as you need without an account. Your entries stay in this browser. The PDF is created on our server and nothing is saved there.
What's the difference between an IBAN and a QR-IBAN?
A QR-IBAN is a separate account number your bank issues for payments with a QR reference, which makes incoming payments easier to match automatically. It only works with a QR reference. A normal IBAN works with an RF creditor reference or without a reference.
Can I create a QR bill in euros?
Yes, choose EUR as the currency. From 14 November 2026, version 2.4 of the SIX standard reserves the QR-IBAN with QR reference for CHF. For EUR bills, use a normal IBAN with an RF reference or with a message only.
Can I still create an orange or red payment slip?
No. The orange and red payment slips were withdrawn on 30 September 2022 and replaced by the QR bill. This generator creates the QR payment part that took their place.
Can the QR bill be paid at the post office?
The PDF is meant for e-banking and mobile banking. For a counter payment, print it at 100 percent on white paper and separate the payment part along the line. SIX sets requirements for paper and perforation, so check with your bank if your clients pay on paper.
Does every Swiss invoice need a QR bill?
No. The QR bill makes paying easier, but a normal bank transfer or eBill works as well. It doesn't replace the invoice content required by VAT rules. For those, check with your fiduciary or the Federal Tax Administration.
